Elegant By Design

Karla at Elegant by Design is amazing! I am a flower novice and she took the time to get a feel for my theme of my wedding. She has such a gift for listening to you and completely capturing exactly what you have in mind, then topping those expectations!!!! I trusted her to make the best decisions on the small, finishing touches and all night people were raving about the decor and flowers! I highly recommend her!!!!

Carla is FABULOUS! She put together such beautiful bouquets for myself and maid of honor. She is very reasonably priced and creative with her designs. HSe was very easy to work with and made the process very enjoyable.

Karla at Elegant By Design in Newport Beach did the flowers and several key decor elements for my daughter's wedding. We felt a wonderful rapport with her at our very first meeting. We found Karla extremely easy to work with, enthusiastic yet always "real" while also being very intuitive in developing our decor concept. A huge plus was that she was super conscientious about delivering the most beautiful presentation for our money making very honest and well-thought out suggestions. On the day of the wedding she and her team arrived early and did they ever get the job done! Every venue was beautifully "dressed" with gorgeous flowers and decor perfectly timed for everything to look at its "peak." The colors, blooms, arrangements, candles and sculpture placements right down to the tiniest detail of making sure that a "crystal" was nestled in the "koru" at the place settings for the bride and groom at their sweetheart table, which, by the way, was decorated with an "over-the-top" floral arrangement that was cleverly "recycled" from the ceremony arbor and was a crowd favorite during the reception ~ it all just brought "oohs," "ahhs" and smiles the entire day. The bridal bouquet was gorgeous as were all the wedding party flowers and they all held up beautifully all day long and beyond. A big highlight was the "Candy Station" which Karla took charge of and set up in the same "sand box" on the cocktail hour terrace that first held our escort cards. (Again, very cleverly letting a decor element do "double duty" in a seamless fashion.) She provided all the beautiful containers which she and her team arranged and filled with wonderful candies in the wedding colors. Not to leave any detail undone, she also made sure to write the bride and groom's names in the sand. It was the stunning surprise out on the terrace at sunset which our guests were delighted to discover after our meal service. We left it to Karla and our Wedding Co-Ordinator/Planner, Lisa Moon, to make the final decor and placement decisions on the day of the wedding as to what would look best and, I have to say, they made all the right ones. All the details, both big and small were perfection. Karla gets 5+++++ stars from us. I would have her do the flowers and decor at any event I planned - in a heartbeat because she truly is someone who, not only works hard, but does it with a lot of heart. She and her team was absolutely wonderful. We "heart" them so much!

I honestly had no trouble with Elegant by Design, everything went perfect and the flowers were beautiful! They arrived at the wedding sight two hours ahead of time and were very helpful! They made my wedding day so memorable! The flowers were totally worth the price!

I would not recommend this florist. I worked with Karla and she seemed to know exactly what I wanted. However, after I left her office she forgot everything we talked about. I had to review the quote at least 5 times with her before she got it right (or so I thought). But on the wedding day, she still got it wrong. Plus, the tea lights didn't fit in the candle holders so she turned them on their side which looked really tacky.

Let me start by saying my flowers were absolutely beautiful. My bouquet was perfect along with the bridesmaids "flower purse bouquets" and all the arrangements too. However, the florists didn't show up until 30 minutes before the ceremony was to start when I was promised they would be there at least an hour and a half in advance, the guests were already there and watched as all the flowers were put into place. It was a nightmare! I was in tears, hysterical and panicked thinking I wasn't going to have any flowers at my wedding. Karla, the organizer at Elegant by Design, was unreachable. She was not answering her phone at all and we couldn't get a hold of anyone. It was a bride's worst fear come true. I didn't have a wedding planner and had done it all myself and so my mom was calling and calling but we never got an answer, not even after the wedding did we get a call for an apology. Some girls from the shop finally showed up but they got a piece of our mind upon arrival. Once everything was said and done, it all looked beautiful but wasn't worth the stress it caused me on what was supposed to be the happiest day of my life. Not to mention, I was quoted one price that I thought was reasonable at the beginning and by the end, it had jumped somewhere around $800.00 even though I had cut out some of the bridal party's flowers because not all my family could show up.
