I'm a self-admitted control freak, especially when it came to the energy and ambience of our reception. We wanted someone who was presentable, classy, energetic, funny but never cheesy or corny. We also wanted a DJ who would stick exclusively to our playlist, as we did not want any musical surprises at our reception. Kurtis was all of the above mentioned, and did everything we wanted him to. He was amazing, and made our night so much fun. All of our friends said our wedding was the funnest wedding they've been to, and no one wanted the night of dancing to end.

Groovebox Entertainment provided our event with great music and a personable DJ who got everyone involved. Young and old all have a fantastic time and I would highly recommend the company's services to anyone planning a special occasion.

GrooveBox was fantastic! They were easy to work with and made our wedding SO much fun. Everybody complimented us on the music and the flow of our evening but the kudos go to GrooveBox and our DJ. All we did was pick a few special songs and trusted the DJ to use his expertise to handle the rest and we could not have put our trust in a better place. Thanks for a fabulous wedding!

The Groovebox DJ who provided DJ services on the day of, was actually very good. He played the requested music and was friendly and communicative. This vendor recieves a low score, due to their lack of professionalism and lack of music availbility. The DJ cordinator who assisted in getting things together for us via email was sometimes slow to respond to emails and then blamed her kids school obligations and the holidays for failing to return the email in a timely manner. Additionally, I had to provide much of the music, as the coodinator said she didn“t want to purchase music, that perhaps I already had. During our telephone run through the DJ had all the wrong paperwork and we went through much of it before he realized the coordinator sent over the wrong information. Kurtis the actual DJ was great and would recommend his services.

Groove box was very professional and flexible meeting with us.And were available to do a conference call when it was hard for us to meet.Kurtis is fun to work with but I wish he was more organized.Karen was always following up with our emails everytime we added more song request or lighting request. And made us feel that we wont have to worry about anything. But on the day of the wedding, I was not impressed.I felt like I had to tell Curtis what to do and what dance music to play.Luckily, I had the timeline for the reception on my sweetheart table and had them made and placed on each table. I thought we had gone over everything with Kurtis by phone and provided him the timeline/ schedule I wrote for the entire reception, not to mention it was a very organized timeline as he mentioned during our conference call.I wish I did not have to tell Kurtis what dance songs to play especially after I had given him a list of all the songs.I was told that some of my guests complained that a lot of them were requesting hip hop but Kurtis kept playing belly dance songs. Yes, I had belly dancers to perform during dinner but I also requested other songs to be played for my guestsnwhomlike salsa & hip-hop.I wish Kurtis took chargemthat night , not the belly dancers. I also got involved. I had to tell him to start playing salsa for the older guests and some hip-hop for the younger guests. Which made some people that were seating down all night got up and danced. But I realized that some of my guests had already left early.I believe any dj should just know how to feel the crowd. And when the crowd/guets starts telling the dj what music to play is not a good sign.Kurtis should have known that belly dance songs is not for everyone. And knew that it was mainly for a performance during dinner and maybe to get the crowd warmed up.Kurtis did still play the right songs during dinner, money dance, garter toss and bouquet toss. He was very energeticthe whole night.I was happy that Groove Box provides lighting. But I was a little disappointed with the quality of the outcome. We paid extra to have stars on the dance floor for our first dance. We did not see stars when we did our first dance. After seeing our wedding photos, it was all white spots or dots that it looked liked my photographer's camera lens had rains spots on them. The stars looked like white round spots.I was so embarassed that I refuse to say that we even paid tohave stars during our first dance.I could not even tell my photographer it was that bad.The worst part is I could not even use those pictures. The lighting ruined our first dance photos.I must say, the uplighting on the walls came out nice on the pictures. And our names were written perfectly on the wall eventhough it was very expensive. My only advise to Groove Box is that they need to make the any up-lighting shoot higher especially when the ballroom has higher ceilings.Honestly, I did not even notice those lights until I got the photos.Im giving Groovebox at least a 3 because I believe they have potential to improve from their past clients critiques and opinions.

GrooveBox was absolutely amazing! Karen in the office was so great with answering any questions and helping me with paperwork to help plan the evening. We had Kurtis as our DJ and I can't say enough about him! Just in our first meeting (before I had even booked GrooveBox), he sat with me for almost 2 hours and put together a detailed timeline of my entire reception on his computer, including what type of music I wanted with specific genres. He really tried to get a good feel of what my style was, like whether I wanted fun games to get the crowd more involved or if I wanted more of a reserved feeling for the night. My husband and I have eclectic taste in music and wanted some non-mainstream songs or music genres played. I knew Kurtis was a perfect fit when I told him a specific artist and he started listing off all of our favorite songs! The night of our reception, Kurtis was incredible! He was great at coordinating with the staff at our reception site, as well as with my wedding coordinator, and made the night flow so smoothly. I never once had to worry about a thing! Kurtis announced all of our events and was on cue for every little detail of the night. He had a lot of good ideas about how to get people on the dance floor and keep them there, which totally worked! The dancefloor was never empty the entire night! What impressed me the most was when Kurtis came up to our head table during dinner and congratulated us. He also pointed out that he had a second DJ with him. It turns out that Kurtis fell ill that morning and had to go to the emergency room. He told us that he should be okay for the night, but he brought along the other DJ just in case he needed to go back to the hospital! We thought it showed true professionalism that despite being in the ER the day of our reception, he still came dressed in his nice suit with amazing energy for the night! He could have just as easily sent in his sub for the night. GrooveBox was definitely well worth the money, which was actually really affordable. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ. Kurtis and Karen, you guys helped turn our wedding reception into an awesome and fun party!!

Wow, is all I have to say about this company. Don't get me wrong I love the Dj he was very polite and funny and just nice but for a dj didn't have much of a selection. I also had to deal with him third person which is probably why there was a lot of missed communication between us. I am 24 years old I love alternative and my family is Salvadorean NOT mexican. Some people know the difference and some don't. I was lead to believe Kurtis knew the difference he didn't. Of course I requested spanish music as in Salsa music for my family to dance to. I told Kurtis and Karen over and over NO RANCHERA MUSIC WHATSOEVER. Kurtis said that was fine he had salsa music and would play some for my family. Kurtis played one salsa song and it was the most common annoying salsa song ever. Which is fine that is about the only time anyone danced. Had I known he didn't know what he was talking about had he told me I would have made him salsa cds but again I was mislead and told that he had a large salsa music library which if he did, didn't show. The only other spanish song he played was a ranchera song which is country music in spanish. Noone danced to this. I also pleaded for him not to play YMCA or Celebration but a lot of prince and Madonna. I didn't hear one Madonna song all night but he opted to play Celebration when I made him 3 cds with songs I liked for the dancing part of my wedding. I heard none of it which of course killed the crowd. I asked him to wrap it up almost 3 hours before the reception was suppose to be over because it was dead. I also really love indie style music and alternative most commonly played on Kroq. I told him this when I meet with him and he said he had a large alternative library NOPE. A week and a half before the wedding Karen sends me an email saying she didn't have 50 of the songs I requested. COMMON songs from incubus, coldplay, blondie, The Cure. I mean COMEON how do you not have lovesong from the Cure? that song has been covered like 4 times even. So I told her that her not having just the ones I just listed there worried me and that I regretted going with their company she then told me she was sorry and if I could make her the cds which I did. I made them a list of dance songs I wanted to hear I heard about 5 of those the whole night if that. It was disappointing to say the least. They also tried to charge me extra 2 days before the wedding for having Kurtis arrive at my venue half an hour before to play pre ceremony music. They wanted to charge us $100 for that when we had argeed to a set amount which included him coming to the venue early to play pre ceremony music to begin with. He also didn't get in touch with the reception restaurant to ask them when the food was coming out before he announced to my guests to serve themselves, it was lame. Groovebox is overpriced to say the least we payed him for 7 hours but since he played such horrible music only played for 4 hours since everyone was leaving anyway. I wish I had gone with Final Touch Entertainment. Their djs are much younger and have better music libraries don't know what I was thinking going with Groovebox I would have saved $300 just going with Final Touch which would have provided me with the same amount of time Kurtis did. Kurtis was our DJ and like I said is a very nice friendly guy as well as Karen she was very sweet and I felt badly to have a bit of an attitude with her but their selection is seriously lacking. If they couldn't provide me with what I wanted they should have told me that from the very beginning not lied and told me they had everything I wanted and didn't. Shame on them and my mistake.
