John Lauren Photography

We first caught wind of John Lauren when a friend of ours posted pictures of her wedding which they had shot. Instantly we were drawn to their use of natural light, and particularly how well they illuminated the beaming anticipation in the early morning preparation pictures. There was just something about their work that lacked pretense, it seemed these two really knew how to preserve the natural emotion in the events they captured. This is exactly what Melody & I wanted in our wedding photography--work that was more observational than presentational--and is exactly what we ended up getting when we hired them to do our wedding. The two were a joy to work with, they immediately put us at ease, listened to what we wanted, gently guided us through the posed moments, and were excellent with managing their time. We got all the photos we hoped to get with time to spare, yet not once did it feel rushed or clipped. During the ceremony they were flies on the wall, my wife & I completely forgot they were around, which is a relief because I've been to so many weddings where the photographers were constantly obstructing the view for everyone else--I hate that. During the reception they were always there when we needed them, finding moments in between to get some creative shots that we're thrilled to have. In sum, they captured the day as we hope to remember it. Their work is so good, in fact, my newly engaged sister-in-law is already looking to book them!

We were incredibly blessed to have John & Lauren (a California based, husband and wife team) shoot our wedding at the Gran Caribe Real in Cancun on 11/22/11. This may be their first mention on bdw.com, but word should spread about this amazing couple!! They arrived a couple days before our wedding and shot our welcome reception, rehearsal, ceremony & reception. We also did an “engagement” shoot around the downtown Cancun/market 28 area. They were great to work with because they made us feel relaxed and we had so much fun throughout the entire time. At no point did we have to worry if a moment was not being captured – because they handled everything perfectly. We had complete trust in them throughout the entire wedding and events leading up to it which let us focus on everything else. Because our wedding took place at 4pm, it would have been too dark to take pictures afterwards. So John & Lauren (along with Loyd Calomay, our videographer) arranged for us to have a “first-look” before the ceremony & group pictures. They recommended this to us also because since these are the first picture we’re taking – our smiles are most natural and our outfits and my make-up are still fresh. We are so happy we did this – definitely was one of the best parts of the day. John & Lauren scouted the hotel for the location for the first look, which was on the beach and after overcoming the emotions from seeing each other all dressed up for the first time, we took numerous shots and then met our family & bridal party for the formal group pictures. Because we have such a large family and bridal party – we needed about 20 shots with over 100 people (and lots of little children!) in all the various pictures. John & Lauren coordinated this so well and it the whole process when by smoothly and we still had time to spare before the ceremony. Throughout the reception & ceremony both John and Lauren were all over the place taking pictures. We even had a make-shift photobooth that was make up of two Polaroid cameras that we forgot to announce was available for guests to use. Lauren took the initiative to spread the word about the photobooth and take many pictures herself (in addition to the awesome shots with her camera!). The pictures speak for themselves of how fabulous John and Lauren are. They captured so many poignant moments throughout our wedding week and we’re incredibly happy we were able to work with them. One last point – John & Lauren referred our videographer, Loyd Calomay to us. They have worked together in the past and formed such a great team to document our wedding. Being able to spend time with John, Lauren & Loyd aside from when they were filming/shooting made us realize why their work is so outstanding – the three of them are genuinely great people, the kind of people you want to be friends with. Our photographers were awesome! They were very professional and helpful during our entire wedding planning process. They always made themselves available to us and were never too busy to answer questions that we had. A few times they even shot us a quick check up emails to see if there was anything they could help with, which was much appreciated! We hope to use them in the future as our family grows!

I really liked their portfolio which had lots of informal fun elements, and thought their style would complement our outdoor seaside event. We had a pretty tight budget but they worked with us to give us as many (or few) services as we could afford, and cut out the extras we didn't need. The contract promised a cd of all the shots they took within ten months after the event, and they delivered in five. They are very easy to work with and the pictures turned out great!

We loved working with John and Lauren! The special thing with John and Lauren is they strive to build a strong relationship with their clients in order to foster trust and comfort. We found ourselves not only great and skilled photographers but also wonderful new friends, the combination of these components led to beautiful wedding pictures! We highly recommend John & Lauren, they are were so supportive and professional throughout our whole time working together!

John Lauren Photography is AMAZING!! Their pictures are artistic and breath taking! My husband and I saw pictures from other weddings they did, and we knew we wanted them to capture pictures from our very own special day. And, they definitely lived up to our expectations because both the engagement and wedding pictures were stunning! I love how their pictures showcase our personalities. All of my friends and family members told us that the pictures reflected who we are as individuals and as a couple. They were fun, beautiful, cooky, quirky..and perfect! As a team, John and his wife, Lauren, are super fun and they make you feel very comfortable. At first we felt uncomfortable and awkward to have a camera in our faces, but John and Lauren helped us feel at ease; They helped us relax and have fun. And after looking at our pictures, I felt so beautiful! I couldn't wait to show them off to our family and friends. =D They are hard workers and do whatever it takes to get the perfect shot, whether it's getting down on their knees to get a perfect angle, or running down a bridge as a bus drove behind us (yes, we all actually ran!!). And let me tell you, that shot was amazing! We were thrilled to book John Lauren for our wedding! Thanks, John and Lauren for everything. You guys are amazing and we are so grateful for all of the time, effort, and talent you poured out on us to make our engagement and wedding even more memorable!

Our wedding planner had spoken very highly of John and Lauren, and after doing some research we couldn't find any better photographers in the LA-Orange County area. Little did we know that this cute couple were going to be our best friends within a matter of hours! It was so much fun working with them. And they were really accommodating and they stayed late to take more photos of us after the reception had ended (which they didn't need to do). We just got our photos 2 days ago and we were blown away! They took some REALLY amazing shots. They really did an awesome job.

After looking at John and Laurens work online, and then speaking with John, I was confident that they were the photographers I wanted to shoot my special day. Now that I've received my pictures I am so happy that I did. The pictures are AMAZING and bring me back to emotions that were felt on that day. I can't stop smiling. They tell a story and they were able to capture the moments as they were happing that day. They are also very easy and comfortable to work with, so it made the photos more natural and the shoots fun. I would totally recommend John and Lauren to anyone. Oh, and on another note - they are a husband and wife team who work great together. Its almost as if they can read eachothers minds and know what shot they are going for without communicating it. I promise you won't be dissapointed!

Amazing work you two, Praise God! We love them and couldn’t ask for anything more. Difficult to describe .. but in our attempt to try it was timeless, funny, precious, emotions and feelings captured so much grace and elegance. Thank you for capturing our every moment for us in allowing us to be able to look back and remember exactly what we felt at that very moment. AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! We always think of Vanity Fair when we see their pictures. AMAZING! They definitely have an eye for amazingly beautiful pictures. They are so unique and know exactly what light and lines to use. Definitely the best team to get for irreplaceable memories. Definitely!
